by The Audio Beat | November 28, 2012

n unnamed private equity firm located in Nashville, TN, has acquired Thiel Audio, one of the foremost makers of time- and phase-coherent loudspeakers. Bill Thomas takes over as CEO from company co-founder Kathy Gornik, but longtime Thiel employees Brad Paulsen, Gary Dayton, Lana Ruth and Rob Gillum all remain, as does the company's entire factory team along with existing sales reps and dealers.

Thiel has just launched the CS2.7, and the CS1.7 is in the final stages of development, rounding out the company's CS .7 series. "We can improve efficiencies here at Thiel in the product development and manufacturing stages, shortening the time to delivery for new products with zero compromise in product quality," Thomas said. Thiel will explore new product categories and expand its architectural series. Resources will also be allocated to improving the company’s website and other marketing assets. There are no plans to close Thiel’s Lexington, KY, headquarters.
