Ed Meitner has gone all out in his new flagship DAC, the EMM Labs DA2, a product so new that the final price has not been set -- but it’ll be between $25,000 and $30,000 depending on finish. The DA2 has an all-new analog stage and converter as well as revised DSP. The converter itself is a discrete non-chip-based design that can do true double DSD. The DA2 also benefits from EMM’s Mfast system, which is designed to remove source jitter prior to the DAC. Also of note is that a networking option will be made available, which means serious streaming potential. The DA2 is due to begin shipping in the fall.
