New and Improved: The Well Tempered Amadeus 254

by The Audio Beat | November 26, 2018

he new Well Tempered Labs Amadeus 254 (€8500) replaces the company's successful and well-reviewed Amadeus model. It comes with a 10.5" LTD tonearm, full electronic speed control, a servo-controlled motor and either unbalanced/RCA or balanced/XLR output.

The Amadeus 254's plinth is a two-piece construction, each using multiple layers to reduce the effect of noise. The tonearm's pivot features Well Tempered's golf-ball suspended in silicone fluid for optimum variable damping. The servo-controlled motor, with fully regulated power supply and vibration-controlled mounting, drives the acrylic platter via a 0.004" polyester thread. The platter features a "Zero Clearance" bearing. The tonearm's fixed headshell allows easy azimuth adjustment, and the turntable's feet provide increased isolation.
