New Top "Reference" Speaker from Vienna Acoustics

by The Audio Beat | April 27, 2022

ienna Acoustics' new Liszt Reference ($19,995 or $22,995 per pair, depending on finish) is a three-way bass-reflex speaker that mates a trio of mid-sized woofers with a coaxial midrange/tweeter. The speaker is a complete redesign of the company's Liszt model and is the new top speaker in Vienna Acoustics' Reference lineup.

The Liszt Reference's all-new version of Vienna’s patented 6" coincident driver combines a new flat spider-cone midrange driver with a new 3/4" tweeter in a ring-radiator design. The new tweeter incorporates technology from the tweeter and super tweeter used in Vienna’s previous flagship models. The new coincident driver offers all the benefits of a point-source design along with extension to 35kHz.

The speaker's top section is called the Music Center module and is completely independent from the lower cabinet. It can be positioned at the optimal angle relative to the listening position and is mechanically isolated from the bass cabinet. Three 7" Flat X4P woofers with recessed fabric center cones handle the bass. The new flat composite cones are extremely stiff and light, and they deliver piston-like movement. The bass cabinet features extensive bracing and multiple enclosures for the woofers, with each enclosure separately vented and tuned.

Each Liszt Reference speaker is matched to the reference within 0.3dB. The speaker's impedance is 4 ohms and its sensitivity is 91dB. Overall frequency response is 28Hz-35kHz.
