New Universal A/V Players from Magnetar
agnetar's MKII universal media players introduce significant upgrades and engineering refinements developed in direct response to customer and dealer feedback. The UDP900MKII ($3299.99) and UDP800MKII ($1799.99) support virtually every physical and file format, including 4K and Blu-ray discs, SACDs, DVD-As, CDs, and stored/networked media. They offer a refresh of Magnetar's proprietary video processing engine, which optimizes reproduction of color, contrast, brightness and noise reduction with improved upscaling, as well as upgraded audio architecture with reduced distortion and more accurate reproduction of high-resolution audio. The new players also feature redesigned USB 3.0 ports with isolated power supplies and dedicated hub chips to improve compatibility and stability with external devices. Both models use a newly engineered damped optical drive for quieter, more accurate disc reads, a robust aluminum chassis with dual-layer shielding to suppress EMI, and upgraded interior wiring with high-purity copper-core conductors and premium JST/Amphenol PCB connectors. Both players offer the latest HDMI video output and both balanced XLR and single-ended audio outputs. The UDP900MKII is Magnetar's flagship player with redesigned audio processing featuring dual ESS 9038 PRO DACs paired with TMDS retiming on the dedicated HDMI audio port. Advanced XMOS USB audio playback supports formats up to 768kHz PCM and 512 DSD. Further refinements include expanded networking capabilities and support for Roon Ready certification. The UDP800MKII also supports Roon Ready certification. Its newly designed 2.0 audio circuit incorporates seven OPA1602 op-amps for low-noise, high-precision playback, and precision HDMI jitter correction. Enhanced EMI shielding ensures cleaner, more accurate sound. An upgraded sound-dampened chassis suppresses vibration for quieter operation. Both new players will debut at CEDIA Expo 2025 and begin
shipping in the fourth quarter of this year. |
