Budget-Priced Record Cleaner from Keith Monks Audio Works

by The Audio Beat | August 21, 2020

he Keith Monks Audio Works Prodigy ($995) brings all of the brand's classic features (with one notable exception) together in a sustainable-bamboo, sculptured chassis with a significantly smaller footprint than that of previous models. The Prodigy is  the company's most silent cleaner yet, but all models are "quiet enough to play a record and enjoy it while cleaning another."

Previous Keith Monks cleaners used the same general procedure: a single-point suction wand similar to a tonearm, using a length of continuously replaced cotton thread as a spacer, removes cleaning fluid, dirt and dust revolution by revolution, storing the waste fluid in a separate reservoir. The Prodigy does the same but without the thread spacer, making for one less consumable, which Keith Monks Audio says "is simpler, easier and more effective." The Prodigy is also fitted with a multi-color lighting system to enhance visual appeal and "add another element of fun to the cleaning process."

With the Prodigy, you can clean both sides of a vinyl LP in roughly five minutes. The Prodigy can also clean 10" and 7" vinyl records, as well as CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray Discs, SACDs, CD-Rs and even Laserdiscs.
