How to use Stillpoints

February 13, 2020

Marc,

I’ve been reading about Stillpoints -- the four Ultra products to be specific. I must say, I haven’t a clue how they are used!

Does one thread them into their speakers and components in place of the factory feet/spikes or do the various components and speakers simply sit upon them?

The Nordost Sort Fut and Sort Kones seem easier to employ, or at least they explain them more clearly.

The answer is yes to both ways of using them that you cite. You can use them in place of screw-in feet or spikes (Stillpoints also sells many adapters for this) or simply place them beneath the component. As for which is better sonically, I can't even guess. I do use a set with my turntable, in place of older Stillpoints that were screwed in, and they have been a major upgrade. With speakers, I personally would want them to screw in, so the speaker doesn't shift and potentially fall off. -Marc Mickelson
