Audio Research’s PH6 phono stage ($3495) is a trickle-down beneficiary of the Reference Phono 2’s technology. Controls, layout and cartridge settings will be familiar to PH5 owners, but the display is in the new "house" style, and the buttons have been moved to a space below. Replacing the PH5’s four 6922s are two 6H30 twin triodes, with double the tube life at 4000 hours and greater gain. The PH6 boasts improved RIAA accuracy as well.
