Rocky Mountain Audio Fest 2015 • Hot Product

Gilbert Yeung of Blue Circle Audio manned a booth in the exhibitor area with a table full of test equipment, gadgets and products at once practical (and priced at real-world levels) and at the same time reflecting a unique perspective not found elsewhere.

Gilbert's featured products were eight versions of a new class-D power amplifier. The power amps vary by being either stereo or mono, with rated power from 150 to 2000 watts (at 8 ohms) and either solid-state or selectable hybrid circuits. Prices range from $3295 up to $9095. In the hybrid versions, a unity gain 65N7 circuit is added to the solid-state input stage. Gilbert was also showing new hybrid ($3595 to $4295) and solid-state ($2495) class-D integrated amplifiers.

Gilbert is confident that his new generation of amplifiers will surprise us, reflecting how far the technology has progressed in doing away with the nasty sound usually associated with class D.
