TD2.2: Raidho's Newest Compact Floorstander

by The Audio Beat | September 19, 2019

aidho's new TD2.2 ($46,600 per pair in black finish) is a two-and-half-way speaker that pairs two advanced Raidho-designed and -manufactured drivers in a completely redesigned cabinet. The speaker's  new TD quasi-ribbon tweeter was first introduced in the TD4.8, but by optimizing the acoustic shape of the rear chamber, Raidho has lowered distortion by 35dB and, at the same time, increased the driver's sensitivity by 3dB. The 6 1/2" midrange and bass drivers feature five-layer Tantalum-Diamond cones with higher inner damping and a new, proprietary edge-wound titanium voice coil. These drivers have one of the strongest underhung drive systems available, with 1.1 Tesla in the gap.

Raidho reexamined everything inside the cabinet in order "to create optimal airflow, remove unwanted reflections, and eliminate distortion caused by the typical limitations in cabinet designs." Internal wiring is from Nordost and based on that company's  Norse line, "meaning that the internal wiring is done with technology from Nordost Valhalla 2 cables."

About the TD2.2, Raidho proclaims, "This a reference product giving a true-to-life sound with an almost limitless soundstage, allowing the speakers to disappear and putting the music in focus."
