Newvelle Records Uses Crowdfunding to Launch "Season Two"

by The Audio Beat | October 20, 2016

jazz label with a difference, Newvelle Records has released new recordings of original jazz on LP only via a subscription-based model. The praise the label has received for its releases has been universal, not only for the music but also for the high-quality packaging and artwork.

Newvelle has launched a second series of recordings, which the label calls Season Two, using crowdfunding website Kickstarter for its genesis. Artists featured on these upcoming LPs include John Patitucci, Lionel Loeuke, Kevin Hays, Rufus Reid, Jon Cowherd, Aruan Ortiz and Chris Toridini, with a supporting cast that includes Brian Blade, Becca Stevens, Tony Sher, Yotam Simberstein, Rogerio Boccata and Duduka Da Fonseca. Novelist Douglas Kennedy will write original liner notes that reflect on the new records and tie them all together, while Tendance Floue, a Paris-based photography collective, will provide cover and internal artwork.
