A Lyra Step-Up: The Erodion EVO

by The Audio Beat | December 20, 2023

yra's Erodion EVO ($6500) is a step-up device designed for use with Lyra moving-coil cartridges -- especially Lyra’s SL Single-Layer coil MC cartridges (Kleos SL, Etna Lambda SL and Atlas Lambda SL) -- but the company says it is "also a terrific fit with any low-impedance cartridge of 2-10 ohms." It offers 26dB of gain into a moving-magnet-compatible phono stage that accepts input loads of around 47k ohms. The Erodion EVO has an exceptionally wide frequency response of 10 to 100,000Hz.

Erodion EVO includes an integrated Lyra-designed and Lyra-made low-capacitance Phono Pipe output cable that's approximately two feet long, so you will not need to buy an extra pair of interconnects for connection to your phono input. There are two switchable grounding positions, with Position 2 (floating) being the one Lyra recommends.

According to Lyra, "Regardless of the gain potential of a given phono stage, Erodion EVO delivers an utterly addictive and punchy musicality to Lyra’s SL cartridges that may be unrivalled."
