Gryphon Audio Introduces Atlas Spikes

by The Audio Beat | November 3, 2017

ryphon Audio's Atlas spikes (€1490 per set of four) were designed to divert resonance away from sensitive components, directing energy in one direction only and blocking it in the other direction.

Gryphon has conducted extensive research that has shown that the size, shape and material of spikes can have significant influence on sound quality. Consequently, Atlas spikes are assembled from Polyoxymethylene (POM), aluminum and tempered steel. The different resonant frequencies of the materials have highly variable impact on energy transfer and exert influence on musical performance. Gryphon recommends Atlas spikes for use with vibration-sensitive tube amplification, motor-driven components such as turntables and disc players, and with amplifiers that have extensive internal wiring.

Atlas spikes include M4 screw threads for easy mounting under loudspeakers, and adhesive pads for carefully balanced placement under audio components regardless of weight. Height can be fine-tuned for perfect leveling and experimentation with positioning directly under transformers or motors.

According to Gryphon, "Atlas eliminates the adverse effects of vibration, resonance and microphonics, to take any high-performance audio system that crucial step closer to ultimate neutrality and transparency."
