Gryphon Audio's Anniversary Amplifiers

by The Audio Beat | December 15, 2020

ryphon Audio celebrates the 25-year run of its mono and stereo Antileon amplifiers with the introduction of the Antileon Anniversary ($42,000 for the stereo amp, $84,000 per pair for monoblocks), which the company calls "the ultimate refinement of concepts, technologies and components originally developed for the Gryphon Mephisto, the brand’s ultimate power amplification statement." These include pure class-A output to 150Wpc in stereo and 300Wpc for mono, and high power capacitance -- 670,000 microfarad for the stereo and mono amps. The amplifier's fundamental goals remain the same: extremely wide bandwidth and channel separation, and exceptional peak-to-peak current capability to ensure compatibility with even the toughest loudspeaker loads.

Production of the Antileon Anniversary is limited to just 25 stereo amps and 25 monoblock pairs. An aluminum frame surrounds the display, engraved with “Antileon EVO Anniversary” and each amp's number in the series. On top of each amplifier is a golden Gryphon figure recessed into the transformer cover. Each stereo amplifier or set of monoblocks will include a reproduction of the original Antileon EVO artwork and a special owner’s manual with a historical introduction to every Antileon generation, written by Gryphon founder Flemming Rasmussen. As a further nod to the company's history, the Antileon Anniversary is dedicated to the memory of Flemming’s good friend and Gryphon's Australian distributor for 33 years, Josef Riediger, who passed away in October 2020.
