New from Audience: frontRow

by The Audio Beat | February 18, 2019

udience is well known for its Au24 audio cables, which have proved themselves over time to be a price-and-performance standard. Audience's new frontRow line of cables treads different ground. These top-of-the-line interconnects ($3300 per meter pair with RCA connectors), speaker cables ($5000 per two-meter pair) and power cords ($6700 per six-foot length), plus phono and digital cables, use Audience's MORRE (Musically Optimized Reduction of Resistive Energies) technologies, which aim at maintaining maximum signal integrity and reducing noise.

Each frontRow cable uses the optimum conductor material for its application. These include modified 99.9999% Ohno Continuous Cast (OCC) copper, 99.9999% pure silver or high-purity silver-plated copper. The cables use XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene) dielectric, chosen for its insulating properties and low microphonics, as well as Teflon and other materials. Depending on the cable model and application, twin-axial, coaxial, proprietary Perfect Lay, Double Cylindrical, Double Helix or another custom-stranded, multi-conductor wire geometry is used.

Connector design and construction for the frontRow cables are similarly optimized and employ tellurium and beryllium copper, rhodium, gold and silver. The cables also utilize either proprietary solderless connections or "state-of-the-art" soldering materials and techniques. The frontRow cables are treated with Audience's EHVP Extreme High-Voltage Process, which applies high voltages in specific combinations to align the crystalline structure of the various metals used and create more efficient signal travel. Finally, to further maximize performance, the cables receive Audience's Deep Cryo II treatment, which relieves stresses that are created in the drawing and manufacturing of the wire and strengthens the conductors.
