As indicated in big letters, Gryphon Audio Designs showed a prototype of what, for the company, is a very small and light product, the EOS-2 loudspeaker (€19,800 plus VAT, or $20,800 per pair). The candy-apple-red speaker was certainly one of the most handsome new products at the show. Gloss black and matte gray are options, but the red was truly fetching. The design emphasizes avoidance of parallel surfaces in both the visible architecture and inner structure. The speaker is highly adjustable -- the rear port can be shifted to the front and damping is adjustable in three steps to account for room placement and toe-in. A 1 1/3" beryllium tweeter and 7 1/2" bass-midrange driver combine to deliver 91dB efficiency, with a minimum impedance of 4 ohms.

The EOS-2 will begin shipping around mid-August.
