High End 2018 • Hot Product

Doshi Audio debuted two new products at the High End show: the $17,995 stereo amplifier (which was not at the show) and the $3795 headphone amplifier, which was on active display. Doshi used two of them in conjunction with its tape head preamplifier (top unit) -- with both open-reel tapes and digital files as sources -- through AudioQuest headphones. The headphone amplifier utilizes differential topology from input to output, and Doshi claims that it drives headphones of any impedance, due to its three switchable load ranges. The amplifier incorporates a Sowter output transformer, and it accommodates both single-ended and balanced headphone connections.

The sound through the AudioQuest headphones was quite promising, and we look forward to hearing a wider of range of ‘phones on it in the future.
