In celebration of its 40th anniversary, Dynaudio unveiled a special speaker, aptly named the Special Forty ($2999/pair), a stand-mounted model manufactured in Denmark and measuring 14 1/4"H x 7 3/4"W x 12 1/8"D. The Special Forty sounded as good as it looked, even under show conditions.

The diminutive speaker incorporates the 1"/28mm Esotar Forty soft-dome tweeter, which was designed especially for the new model, and a 6 3/4"/17cm midrange/woofer. First-order crossovers are used. The speaker comes in two finishes: gray birch (above) and red birch (below). The finish is manufactured from multiple layers of cross-cut veneer and finished in a high-gloss lacquer, presenting a striking appearance in a small package.

The Special Forty will begin shipping in June.
