Norwegian electronics maker Electrocompaniet has created a modular media player that has the potential to be all things to all men because of the variety of uses it is able to accommodate. The ECM1/2 can be a DVD and CD player, a streamer, a ripper and be used for both stereo and home-cinema applications. There are two basic versions: the ECM1 has no DAC and starts at €3500, while ECM2, at €4900, includes a converter. A custom control app has been developed for either iOS or Android devices.
