The Mark Levinson No.585.5 ($16,000) is the upgraded version of the No.585 integrated amp, which replaced the renowned No.383 from years earlier. The No.585.5 delivers 200Wpc into 8 ohms and 350Wpc into 4 ohms. It's a high-current, class-AB design using a custom 900VA toroidal transformer.

It's no coincidence, coming on the heels of Mark Levinson's No.515 turntable, that the No.585.5's most-touted upgrade is its two-input phono stage. The No.585.5's Pure Phono stage is the same as that used in the No.523 and No.526 preamps; it features fully discrete, low-noise gain stages and RIAA equalization via a combination of active and passive circuits. Four gain settings, multiple resistive- and capacitive-loading settings, and an infrasonic filter are adjustable via the No.585.5's front panel or the remote control.

In addition to the phono inputs the No.585.5 also offers four analog inputs (RCA and XLR) and six digital inputs, including asynchronous USB, optical, coaxial, and AES/EBU, with processing up to 32-bit/192kHz PCM and for native DSD. The No.585.5 also handles DSD over PCM via USB, and it features a dedicated power supply for all of its digital circuitry.
