CES & THE Show 2014 • Hot Product

EgglestonWorks brought two new speakers to CES -- the Nico bookshelf and Emma floorstander -- but it was the smaller and more affordable Nico that the company was demonstrating enthusiastically. The $3250-per-pair Nico is an attractively sculpted two-way that has the company's first front-firing port, making it rather more flexible when it comes to siting, compared to the company's other models. It can even be put in a bookshelf should you feel the urge, but that would disguise its elegant form as well as compromise ultimate performance. The Nico has an aluminum front baffle and internal bracing in much the same shape. There are two rib-style vertical braces and one horizontal brace on the inside. On the outside you can see the 6" polypropylene woofer and 1" soft-dome tweeter, both made by EgglestonWorks. The same drivers are augmented by a second 6" woofer in the Emma floorstander, which comes in at $3950 per pair.
