We can't imagine we were the only ones surprised to see loudspeakers from Canada's most-respected electronics brand, Bryston. The Model T floorstander ($6495 in passive form) is a three-way speaker with two titanium-dome tweeters, two 5 1/2" ceramic-coated-aluminum midrange drivers and three 8" woofers with same cone material. The Model T is available in three versions: passive with onboard crossover, Signature with outboard crossover, and active with Bryston amplification.

The new addition to the range is the Model T Mini stand-mount (shown, $2550), which has one each of the drivers described above in a passive configuration. Its critically braced cabinet has the same nonparallel sides as its big brother, and the front baffle is a meaty 1 1/2" thick. Both models are available in a range of vinyl-wrapped finishes, with hardwood veneers available at additional cost.
